Schedule Templates
Assemble Workplans Quickly with Smart, Scalable Templates
Few projects are totally unique.
Schedule Templates let you create and deploy standardized project methods.
Templates quickly create ready to use workplans for routine projects with no planning effort.
As a project construction set, templates can be used in combination to build complex schedules for large projects.
Creating Templates
A Schedule template is a repository documents which contains a prototype workplan.
The form provides a complete planning environment.
Existing projects can be converted into templates. You can also enter task lists quickly using the Import form. You can even copy-paste from a word processor or spreadsheet.
The template editor allows you to define all properties for a task including the resources, the duration, effort, document requirements, methodology, task type, capitalization, and logical dependencies.
Using Templates
The first step is to select the project and the template.
Next, you configure the dates, effort, options of the template for this project.
Resources, which are roles in the template, are assigned to specific people.
Preview buttons allow you to see the new schedule and resource impact before anything is created.
The system scales the template plan to fit the desired dates and effort.
The Generate action then constructs the project assignments complete with checklists and dependencies.
You can see the results immediately in the outline view.
If you don't like what has been created you can UNDO or REDO the template action at any time.
There is much more to the template facility than what we have shown here, for more information...
